Inside the Palasport — the historic heart of Euroflora — the installation created an intimate, sheltered landscape within the newly renovated arena.
A ring of cardboard tubes and a rising green spiral transformed the central hall into a quiet oasis in dialogue with the translucent roof and its restored toroid.
The Palasport has always been the heart of Euroflora. The building has recently undergone a renovation that redefined its functions and interior spaces. The exhibition area is now limited to the zone beneath the translucent roof, significantly smaller than the full extension of the arena.
The installation was conceived in dialogue with the existing structure. The project defined an enveloping spatial device that guided visitors from the entrance toward the exhibition area, and then accompanied them back toward the other parts of Euroflora.
Wishing to preserve the newly installed seating, a curtain of recycled and recyclable cardboard tubes delineated six petal-shaped spaces, like organ pipes, each hosting a dedicated installation. At the centre, a vertical totem — imagined as a growing green spiral — engaged in dialogue with the restored translucent roof and with the iconic toroid, preserving their historic character.
Quite different from the long-standing tradition of Euroflora’s installations inside the Palasport, the project created an intimate space — a small oasis — where the acoustic absorption of the cardboard tubes amplified the sense of quietness and protection.
