CONCEPT
Topics: Urban Edge; Urban renovation; contemporary Public space; Park as a medium in the net-city.
The design of the park of the walls of Piacenza, requires a broad look at the city. It must tend to identify for this a specific and articulated role capable of setting up relations that go well beyond the design of the park. The project therefore places the relationship between the city and its territory at the center of the concept.
The project aims to transform what for centuries has been a system of closure and defense into an element of dialogue, interface and openness.
The park, therefore, becomes a continuous surface capable of architecturally linking the character of the closed public space of the historic city with the extension of the landscape.
A park as a continuous, fluid green infrastructure, capable of making different “scenes” coexist and characterize near and far horizons. These scenes are organized as an open “screenplay” that enhances the existing heritage by grafting new functions, suggestions and new ways of perceiving this delicate space that must regain possession of that sense of “intimacy” proper to a human scale space.
