The project regarded the extension of the Prato cemetery and the construction of a new Crematorium Temple. The existing cemetery is organized on a typical symmetrical layout developed according to incremental additions. This symmetrical and organic structure missed the last quadrant and that area was designated for new intervention. The layout had to define an alternative entrance to the Campo Santo. The project therefore does not propose the idea of a closed perimeter but identifies its concept in the continuity of surfaces and in the dialogue between ground, landscape and architecture. In this context, the intervention becomes a natural and continuous background to the existing and frames a series of independent and linked spaces that connect the burials, the ossuaries and the Crematorium. The Temple is organised along parallel lines/walls that continue and deflect toward the outside landscape. These lines become a series of terraces for the burials that face a continuous water surface.
